By the wrong guy. The vampires were the only family she ever knew but her grandmother betrayed her terribly and now she has discovered that she has a twin sister who was raised by While I enjoyed the first book in the Sabina Kane series I ended up absolutely devouring The Mage in Black and for me this is where the series really kicked up a gear. The demon fight club was just uninteresting and went on for far too long.
This book has a little of everything-there is certainly action, a little mystery, a little romance-although I will tell you that this novel is not relationship centric, some angst, a lot of character development, and a boat load of snark. Since Sabina finally had to face reality, she goes a bit more with the flow here and the interesting storyline stays interesting.
This is a whole different world for Sabina, all blac, Mages with all their unfamiliar abilities. It was a little slow at first with Sabina meeting the mage council and her sister. After all, her own grandmother, the leader of the vampire race, just tried to kill her. Because I need to save it for a little while so there won’t be so much time between that and the next book.
Didn’t enjoy this one haye much as the first book in the series.
Share your thoughts with other customers. How some other reviewers gave it an honest 5 stars blaack beyond me. This book takes a new direction when Sabina leaves behind the vamps who stabbed her in the back to try and connect with the Mages. And Sabina thought vampires were bloodthirsty. I didn’t see it coming at all. What I also liked was the fast paced action and movement of the book, and quick moving plot, this book has great energy. Let’s not forget Granny Dearest is still looking to settle the score as well.
But this is so entertaining! They were all well woven in to the story and I can’t wait to see what happens with them all. Refresh and try again.

Along with the ass kicking that goes on here, you also get a glimpse of the more emotional side of Jaye Wells continues to make the Sabina Kane series a hit! Sabina also is fighting sabotage left and right, but who is setting her up? Best of all, she has jye fateful familiar-minion Demon Cat, Gighul!
I think it is the “bad boy” in him. His relationship with Sabina began many years ago and they didn’t leave each other on good terms. Watch book trailers, author interviews, vampire movie and TV show information and trailers.
Not Enabled Word Wise: It was really interesting to see Sabina so totally out of her comfort zone in this book, she is faced with meeting her sister Maisie and although they’re twins they couldn’t be more different. Want free fiction from Jaye? Sabina doesn’t care who magr her, she’s not into destiny. He’s definitely going to make life interesting for her that’s for sure! But Giguhl is thrilled with the idea of fighting in a demon fight club, and once you agree, you cannot back out.

It may have been blacm fact that there was less humour and snarkiness between the characters, especially Sabina and Giguhl, the demon-cat which I found very funny and endearing in book one. After all, her wdlls grandmother, leader of the vampire race, wants her dead. The whole cast of characters used in this book. Dec 20, Marsha rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: They have each others back and Sabina learns to let her big boy demon out on his own.
Want to Read Currently Reading Read. I read the first book to this series, Red-Headed Stepchild and I liked it and thought it was a good book. Sabina journeys to New York with Adam to meet her twin sister, Maisie. At the end I felt that the story was close to useless. With everyone either trying to kill her or gain her trust Sabina has a lot of things to figure out before all hell breaks loose. But as he admits to his past mistakes with Sabina and sincerely apologises for everything he did, I started to really like him.
A bar and fight club seemed to virtually replace the fascinating story of otherworldly politics that is supposed to be the central premise of the series. I actually snorted coca cola out of my nose at one point-which I wouldn’t recommend, it hurts.
I regret wasting money on the book. On blzck of that, the Hekate Council wants to use her as a pawn in the brewing war against the vampires. Get to Know Us. And it made me so damn curious about how it will continue! Nevertheless, it’s always great to have Adam around. Probabl Didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first book in the series.
She would also be happy with a war of the dark races.
